The Baltimore Ravens dominated the Los Angeles Rams as they won 33-7 in Week one of the preseason. The one caveat with this game for the Ravens is that Los Angeles only played two starters. Nevertheless C.J. Mosley Jersey , this was an encouraging performance for Baltimore. Below are ten takeaways from this game. 1. The Ravens first-team offense and defense did what they should have doneAs mentioned above, the Rams rested a majority of their starters, while Baltimore did not. The only projected starters missing from action for the Ravens were Marshal Yanda and Tony Jefferson. Baltimore’s first-team offense, led by Joe Flacco, orchestrated a methodical 10-play, 70-yard drive that ended with a Patrick Ricard six-yard touchdown reception. The Ravens offense, as they should have, dominated a second-team defense. Baltimore’s first-team defense also had their way with a second-team Rams offense. They only allowed one first down and recorded two sacks, which included a strip-sack from Terrell Suggs. The Ravens’ defense has been hyped up all offseason, and they did what they should have done: dominated an offense led by backups.2. RB Gus Edwards is stillthe leader in the UDFA clubhouseThe 14-year streak of an undrafted free agent making Baltimore’s 53-man roster is on the line and running back Gus Edwards continues to be the leader of the pack. After a rough week of practice that included two fumbles, he bounced back in a big way on Thursday night. Edwards rushed for 58 yards, but he also had a crucial drop on third down. Regardless Authentic Hayden Hurst Jersey , Edwards was again the star of the night for the undrafted free agents. Mark Thompson may have closed the gap as he had an impressive 29-yard reception, but he is still trailing Edwards.3. OLB Tim Williams is slowly earning more repsWilliams’ rookie season was a disappointment as he was a healthy scratch for half of the year. He struggled with the speed of the game, and he showcased how raw of a prospect he truly was. This preseason has been the complete opposite. Williams flashed in the Hall of Fame Game, and he had a dominant performance against the Rams. He was consistently beating his matchup as he recorded one sack. With Tyus Bowser on the sidelines, Williams will likely battle with Za’Darious Smith for snaps. 4. QB Lamar Jackson continues to progress in his developmentNaturally, quarterback Lamar Jackson has been the biggest storyline thus far. In the Hall of Fame Game, he was inconsistent, but against the Rams, it was far more positive. Jackson delivered several big-time throws, including a 36-yard strike to Chris Moore. Compared to his NFL debut last week, he looked more comfortable in the pocket, while he also displayed his athleticism by rushing for a touchdown. He avoided sacks on several occasions Youth Tony Jefferson Jersey , and with a better offensive line in this matchup than he had in the previous game, he produced. 5. Rookie wide receivers continue to struggleRookie wide receivers Jordan Lasley and Jaleel Scott combined for one reception for nine yards off of five targets, while they each had a drop. Lasley’s drop was far more concerning than Scott’s, but it was still a rough outing for both receivers. Jackson overthrew Scott in the end zone, but other than that, the pair of rookie receivers struggled to create separation.6. LB Kamalei Correa failed to build off of impressive Hall of Fame GameCorrea was coming off of the best performance of his entire NFL career, but he failed to repeat that. He received snaps at both inside and outside linebacker, and he was unable to generate much pressure. Correa’s instincts at the inside linebacker spot are still under question. He is considered to be on the roster bubble, and he did not help his cause.7. Janarion Grant failed to capitalize on ‘golden opportunity’With Tim White out, Grant had a perfect chance to gain ground in the returner competition. He did not have a terrible showing as he did not drop or fumble any of the kicks, but he did not make a signature play either. Grant needed to have a highlight type of return, and he failed to deliver. 8. DL/FB Patrick Ricard continues to prove his worthPatrick Ricard was considered to be a near-lock heading into the preseason http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-brandon-carr-jersey , and after two-games, it is hard to argue that he is not a lock at this point. Against the Rams, Ricard caught a touchdown pass from Joe Flacco, while he also recorded four total tackles and a quarterback hit. He was consistently in the backfield as it was another successful night for ‘Project Pat.’9. Zach Sieler gained an edge in defensive line position battleSieler is battling with Bronson Kaufusi for what could be the final spot on the defensive line, and he certainly improved his roster stock in this matchup. Sieler recorded two total tackles and one sack. He was excellent at generating pressure along the defensive line. Sieler may have been a seventh-round pick, but he has plenty of potential, and that was on full display on Thursday night. 10. WR Breshad Perriman exploded onto the scenePerriman may have stolen the show at the end of the game with his spectacular 32-yard touchdown. It was against mostly reserves, but it was still a great sign from the former 2015 first-round pick. He struggled throughout his entire career thus far and likely lost confidence, but given his rare speed and measurables, Perriman could always turn the corner if he can consistently catch the ball. Although this was only one game and he still has plenty of work to do, this was an encouraging performance from Perriman. He was targeted four times and did not record a single drop, which is a step in the right direction. His technique and fundamentals looked cleaner and crisper Matt Skura Jersey , which is an excellent sign for Baltimore. Baltimore Ravens (5-5)The Ravens snapped a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Bengals last week in Lamar Jackson’s first start. Baltimore now faces the struggling 2-8 Oakland Raiders. With quarterback Joe Flacco set to miss another game, Jackson will receive his second start. After facing the 32nd ranked total defense last week, Jackson will now face the 31st. Jackson rushed for 116 yards on 26 carries against Cincinnati while only passing for 150 yards. Expect offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg to expand the playbook for Jackson against Oakland. On defense, Baltimore will have to find a way to cover tight end Jared Cook. The Ravens biggest weakness defensively is their inability to cover tight ends, and Cook is one of the best in the league at his position. C.J. Mosley or Tony Jefferson will have to step up to take him away in the passing game. The Ravens pass rush will have to take advantage of the Raiders inexperience at offensive tackle by putting the heat on quarterback Derek Carr as well.Baltimore will remain in possession of the sixth seed in the playoff race by improving to 6-5 with a win over Oakland. Cincinnati Bengals (5-5)After falling to a division rival last week, Cincinnati will face another division rival when the Browns come to town. The Bengals remain in playoff contention despite losing four out of their last five games. Cleveland is fresh off of a bye week after their big win against the Atlanta Falcons, so Cincinnati must remain cautious. The Bengals 32nd ranked defense will be facing the Browns 17th ranked offense led by Baker Mayfield. Mayfield had an impressive three touchdown performance against the Falcons, and rookie running back Nick Chubb has emerged as Cleveland’s go-to guy at the position with 579 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the season.Wide receiver A.J. Green will likely miss another game this Sunday, leaving Tyler Boyd as Andy Dalton’s top target once again. Boyd recorded 71 receiving yards and four catches against the Ravens last week. Establishing the run game is critical for Cincinnati’s offense to find rhythm. Running back Joe Mixon was held to a mere 14 yards on 12 carries against Baltimore. Finding success on the ground will help to slow the Browns pass rush, led by Myles Garrett. Improving to 6-5 keeps the Bengals in the hunt for the sixth seed into the playoffs.Cleveland Browns (3-6-1)After a big win and a bye week, Cleveland will travel to Cincinnati for an AFC North matchup. The Browns are looking to continue their momentum following their upset win over Atlanta. Mayfield had a near flawless performance against the Falcons, throwing for 216 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions. Mayfield can build off of that performance against the Bengals last place defense. Keeping Cincinnati's pass rush at bay will be key to exploiting their 31st ranked secondary. With Green listed as doubtful to play today Authentic Za'Darius Smith Jersey , Cleveland’s defense must shift their focus to Mixon and Boyd. Although Mixon is coming off of a down game, he has been a major weapon for the Bengals offense on the ground and in the passing game this season. The Browns defense must make Cincinnati one dimensional on offense by containing Mixon. Expect Cleveland to double cover Boyd as well. The Browns have a chance to spoil the Bengals postseason hopes with a win this afternoon.Pittsburgh Steelers (7-2-1)The Steelers are on a six-game winning streak and will look to continue it against the 4-6 Denver Broncos. Pittsburgh fought back against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, and the Steelers were able to find a way to win despite Ben Roethlisberger throwing three interceptions. Pittsburgh will face a less talented defense this week, so Roethlisberger will have the chance for a bounce back performance. Running back James Conner needs to rebound as well after a 25-yard rushing performance in Week 11. The Steelers were gashed on the ground for 179 total rushing yards by Jacksonville. They will face another talented running back this week in Philip Lindsay. Lindsay, an undrafted rookie, has rushed for 670 yards and five touchdowns this season. Stopping the run game will give Pittsburgh’s pass rush the best chance of getting to quarterback Case Keenum and forcing him to make mistakes. Improving to 8-2-1 would all but assure the division title for the Steelers.
